Frontline - PBS/Public Broadcasting Service
Frontline, which premiered in January 1983, is the flagship public affairs series for PBS. The weekly national program airs Tuesday at 10pm, ET, in most markets. However, each individual PBS affiliate can choose what time it airs. Frontline consists of a long format of uninterrupted documentary programs that are 60 to 150 minutes in length. These programs are produced as a collaboration between independent producers and Frontline producers. The series puts an emphasis on the human stories behind the news. Frontline's mission is to avoid shying away from tough, controversial issues that others have avoided because they seemed too complex for the black and white spectrum of conventional broadcast journalism. The aesthetic goal of the program is the fusion of credible and thoughtful reportage with compelling narrative, and a commitment to its viewers. Frontline has won over 10 Albert I. duPont awards, 10 George Foster Peabody awards, over 25 national Emmy awards, five Robert F. Kennedy Journalism awards, one Edward R. Murrow award, two George Polk awards, and many others. This show does not have a permanent host. PR professionals should note that the series editor does not speak with people unless she has seen something in writing. Please send a letter or a fax with treatments, pitches, etc. to Frontline. All pitches should go through the show's main email address. The show offers RSS (Really Simple Syndication).
