Background and Format: The Financial Mail on Sunday is about campaigning for the readers against issues across a multitude of issues. "Nothing is too dry for us - from pensions, savings and contracts for difference to accountancy reform." The section covers, markets, saving & banking, investing, bills, cars, holidays, cards & loans, pensions, mortgages & home, experts and buy-to-let, as well as small businesses, DIY investing, saving money, comment and blogs and guides. It also features a column and interviews. Deadline: Deadline (due to their large readership, is around midnight. The Enterprise / Opportunities pages are completed by Wednesday and these focus on work place issues as well as small business. Their new ‘One to Watch’ column will run monthly and will look at successful, growing private businesses that could be the next generation of great investments for their readers, either through stock market listings or the likes of retail bond issues. Featured companies will not be committed to any external fund raising nor to any timetable. They will simply be firms that Financial Mail has decided would be potentially interesting investments for their readers. They will also be launching a ‘people’s choice’ award in the new year to give their readers the chance to vote for the most promising small to medium sized manufacturer in the country. In a type of ‘British manufacturing talent competition’, Financial Mail will profile aspiring businesses, carry detailed portraits of the businesses online and will run filmed interviews with the CEOs on their YouTube site. Readers will be invited to vote for their favourite company, the one they feel is contributing most to British manufacturing or likely to create most jobs. The winner will be announced at the end of 2012 at an awards ceremony.
