ESPN2
ESPN2 presents more than 4,800 live and/or original hours of sports programming annually featuring MLB, college football and basketball, and much more. The network launched in October 1993. Based in Bristol, CT, ESPN is 80 percent owned by ABC, Inc., which is an indirect subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. The Hearst Corporation holds the remaining 20 percent interest in the network. ESPN is viewed predominantly by men between the ages of 18 and 55. In general, PR professionals are advised to fax press releases involving breaking news, event coverage, or feature story ideas to the assignment desk. Each assignment editor at ESPN covers a specific beat, however anyone at the desk can receive the information and allocate it appropriately. If a press release is intended for a particular producer or reporter, indicate as such and it will be filtered appropriately. Most news and assignment editors prefer to receive pitches by fax or e-mail. The network requests that pitches be specific and related to the sports that they cover.
