Publisher: The BT Group has acquired ESPN’s UK and Ireland Channels. The transaction will come into effect from 31 July 2013. UK sports channel launched by ESPN in August 2009. It shows live Barclays Premier League games and Scottish Premier League games over the course of the football season. The channel will also show matches from America, Germany, Portugal, Russia and the Netherlands, alongside US sports. The channel, simply called ESPN, will also show matches from America, Germany, Portugal, Russia and the Netherlands, alongside US sports. ESPN has reached an initial deal to have the channel shown on Sky, but is in talks to extend the service across all UK pay-TV platforms. Rebecca Lowe will co-host the station’s football coverage and will join Ray Stubbs, Mark Chapman, Kelly Cates and Darrell Currie on the presenting team. Jon Champion and Derek Rae will provide match commentary. Contact details will be announced in due course.
