BBig SpudUnited Kingdom
Big Spud, previously known as Roast Potato is “a blog devoted to roast potatoes and other recipes” that is designed to replace the handwritten notes that people scribble in their recipe books. Started in 2007, the blog carries recipes, news and information on product launches and reviews. Blogger Gary Fenn describes himself as “a bit of a geek who loves food”. Gary says that he never had a particular interest in blogging and never set out to launch a blog but was encouraged by a colleague who was fed up of hearing about his cooking adventures. He says: “My beleaguered colleague, tiring of hearing me blather on about my latest kitchen experiment, implored me to blog about it. I suspect so he didn’t have to hear me go on about it every day.” In addition to blogging Gary works in information and technology services as a Project Manager at Dot Net Architect in Chelmsford, Essex. He has a career history of working in web administration and information and technology customer relations. The majority of blog posts take the form of recipes with notes on ingredients and cooking instructions. Other posts cover news of related events, such as cookery classes, and product launches, as well as reviews and competitions. PR opportunities include brand name and product placement, reviews and competitions. Gary can be reached by email at gary@bigspud.co.uk
